We don’t know about you, but as much as we have enjoyed the winter so far, it sure would be nice to see some green again. Some of us will be dressing up in green and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday March 17 (or possibly partaking in drinking some green beer!), but for those who maybe don’t celebrate this event, we’re going to inspire you to add a little green to your life by introducing you this month to one of our favorite gemstones: Jade.

While most people think of emerald when thinking about green stones, jade has characteristics all its own that make it the perfect “green stone” alternative to emerald. It is worth mentioning that although jade is generally known to be green in color, it does come in a wide array of other colors that will surprise and delight you, including blue, violet, rust brown, yellow, white or black. That said, it is the green color that is most coveted and that which we have come to associate most closely with the stone.

Jade has a rich history that dates back thousands of years. In China, jade has been a centerpiece of Chinese art and culture for over 3,000 years and has been carved into the most beautiful and intricate museum-worthy figurines, statues, ornaments and jewelry. The Chinese associate jade with clarity of mind and purity of spirit. Jade also played an important role in Mayan and Aztec cultures as, not only was it revered for its beauty, but was thought to hold medicinal powers.

Whatever meaning you attach to the stone, the fact is that it is just down right gorgeous! Whether a simple tear-drop pendant or pair of earrings, to more elaborate detail work set in silver, jade is a gorgeous addition to any wardrobe. Each piece is unique and its price-point is tempting, since it can fit into almost any budget.

Because we want to get you in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day and give you that little glimmer of green on the horizon, we are offering 10-15% off select in-store green gemstone jewelry, (including some stunning jade pieces, of course!), during the month of March.

Come on in to the store and take a look around. We’d love to see you and show you around and help you choose that perfect gift for that special someone, or even better – for you!
